Refund of Tuition

  • Full refunds are made by the start of each semester or session if your request for refunds is accepted. Full refunds include the whole tuition and fees for continuing students and the whole tuition and fees plus the entrance fee for the new students.
  • If the cause for refunds occurs after the first day of the semester, the entrance fee or other fees are not refundable. Tuition is refunded according to the following schedule.
Refund of Tuition
If the cause for refunds occurs Amount of refunds
before the first 30 days of the semester5/6 of tuition
after the first 30 days and before the 60th day of the semester2/3 of tuition
After the 60th day and before the 90th day of the semester 1/2 of tuition
90 days after the start of the semesterNo refunds

For students who take a leave of absence, the reference point is not the day of your withdrawal but the first day of your leave of absence. In case you have had multiple leaves of absence and reinstatements after registration, the amount of refund is decided based on the semester in which you have stayed the longest in school. An example is given below:

Registration on Feb. 26, 2010 → leave of absence on Mar. 15, 2010 → reinstatement on Feb. 27, 2011 → leave of absence on Apr. 27, 2011 → reinstatement on Feb. 25, 2012 → leave of absence on Feb. 28, 2012 → withdrawal from school on May 18, 2012

The reference point is Apr. 27, because you stayed in school the longest in the spring semester, 2011. More specifically, April 27 is after the first 30 days and before the 60th day of the semester so that you are entitled to a refund of 2/3 of the tuition.

  • In case you have received a scholarship, you have to return the scholarship in full and the reference amount of tuition and fees is the full tuition, not your actual balance. The following formula is used:
    • Full tuition: \3,000,000; scholarship \ 2,000,000; your balance: \1,010,000 (tuition \1,000,000 plus other fees \10,000); taking a leave of absence before the first 30 days of the semester; and withdrawing from school afterwards.
    • Amount of refund = \3,000,000 * 5/6 – \2,000,000 = \500,000. (Other fees are ignored.) Therefore, you are entitled to a refund of \500,000.
